Clear spray damaged decals - a setback

Image
CLEAR SPRAY OVERCOAT ON FRONT APPLIED I used a spray on clear coat to seal the decals onto the surface of the project box. Before spraying the text was nicely visible as shown by the picture of the rear decal which I did NOT spray yet. Decal is easily read DECALS RUINED, NEED A PLAN B OR DO-OVER The spray dissolved the carrier plastic of the decal and rendered it unreadable. When I used my more complex labeling system, only the colored areas are stuck to the box, with no carrier decal. With that system, the overspray does not cause any problem at all.

Clear decals printed and applied to the function generator

While they are not the most beautiful labels, they make the function generator usable and that is sufficient for this simple project I built. I will add some clear paint spray to lock them down on the box but will give them a few days to dry first.

Final verification for VBA Curve Tracer after the resistor arrived

I followed the procedure which validated the ability to deliver the full specified current at the 200V max voltage. This procedure also verifies more of the current limiting circuitry. All worked fine. I tried a number of Zener diodes, regular diodes, BJT and FET transistors just to get familiar with using the tool

Curve Tracer calibration complete, one verification waiting on a resistor

MORE CALIBRATION PROGRESS The additional adjustments completed were: step generator gain to 1V per step (revalidated) high voltage range to 200V max (only got to 191 but that is within the +/- 5% spec) mid voltage range to 70V max exactly  low voltage range to 35V max exactly DC mode voltages also 200, 70, 35 zero level of triangle waves set gain of X amplifier to 1:1 with device output Y channel offset to exactly ground level step delay timing max Verifications were done for: high voltage indicator operation Y amplifier 1/10 gain signal identical to 1:1 signal shape current limiting accuracy X-Y mode operation good curves testing BJT device step generator protection circuit both N and P modes I learned that I need to add 1s persistence to my Tektronix digital scope when in XY mode otherwise the curve tracing creates an annoying flicker. With that, the instrument worked great. I put everything in the enclosure and carefully installed all the knobs.  The remaining verification ...
